Latest figures reveal that almost one half of the British population is verging on obesity.

But despite the overwhelming statistics and health dangers that being obese cause, some relief has been found for sufferers of obesity in the form of a supersized toilet seat.

Big John toilet seats are being imported into the UK from America and sold via Derby Company Gorrdon Ellis & Co.

The supersized ‘Big John’ toilet seat can take the weight of 60 stone and because it is 19 inches wide, it allows a 75 per cent larger seating area than any standard loo seat presently seats.

All this extra space and peace of mind to obesity sufferers is setting them back to the tune of £200.

“Sales of the ‘Big John’ have doubled in the past two years.

“People are getting bigger, wider, and heavier.

“Why shouldn’t they have a comfortable time when they go to the toilet?”, said company director Steven Evanson.

One customer added:

“My husband required a little more room and was breaking many toilet seats a year…

“Big John put an end to that.”

Finding relief in using a Big John supersized toilet seat is little comfort to the health experts who claim that approximately one in every eleven deaths in the UK is linked to obesity, giving the UK the highest death rate in Europe.

According to a new obesity review, many patients are dying because the NHS does not have adequately trained staff or the vital equipment that is needed to cope with the ever-growing problem.
