Ex atomic kitten singer Kerry Katona realises all to well that she could of ended up with the same fate as late jazz singer Amy Winehouse, who died in her bed Saturday afternoon at age 27.
Former drug addict Kerry has been clean off drugs for just over 19 months after a long battle with her addiction, and can understand how hard Amy would have tried to get her life together and face her demons to take back control of her life.
Kerry said: ‘I could not stop thinking how lucky I was to find the strength that I found to get myself out of the sh*t that I was in,’ says Kerry, 30.
‘Amy was so young, but I can so relate to what she was doing. It can be so easy to get some drugs in, have a few drinks and lose sight of reality.’
Kerry explained that her children gave her hope and her responsibilities for them were a huge stepping stone to kick her drug habit for good.
‘I feel so sad about Amy and my heart goes out to all her friends, her family, her fans and everyone who knew and loved her,’ she says.
‘But if you mess with drugs, you’ve got to deal with the consequences before it’s too late.’
Celebrity tributes have been flooding in for Amy Winehouse, with many stars like Lady Gaga and Kelly Osbourne relating to her addiction and praising her for the talen she possessed that has touched the world.
Amy’s Funeral took place on Wednesday, where close friends and family paid their respects in a formal Jewish Shiva. Results of her autopsy will be revealed in a couple of weeks. Her family claim they believe Amy died due to her body not being able to handle the affects of Alcohol withdrawal.
