It is just one flop after the other for poor Katie Price as she struggles to pull back her floundering career away from the hungry clutches of the fresh faced Amy Childs of the world.
First came a pitiful view count for her most recent reality TV show ‘Katie’ that aired on Sky living last month, then an embarrassingly low turn out for auditions on her newsiest TV creation ‘Discovered By Katie,’ were she travels the length of Britain in search for girls and boys to sign up to a modeling agency.
Now the ex-glamour model failed to break the record for the largest-ever book signing yesterday… are we really that surprised?
Topped with the usual bad press that follows her where ever she goes, 2011 just really isn’t her year.
Dress to impress in a low cut, figure hugging metallic gold catsuit at the O2 Academy Leeds, Katie still failed to pull in a crowd.
The mother of three had her heart set on beating the current world record of a staggering 1,951 books signed in one day, currently held by the legendary J.K Rowling, author of the infamous Harry Potter books.
As popular as Katie Price is, to assume that she could beat the best selling books and author of all time, is almost nuttier than a jar of peanut butter.
However, it was not a complete loss for the reality star. Despite setting her self up for a big fall with the book signing, she still managed to generate enough publicity to see her new book, appropriately named The Comeback Girl, swiftly climb the rankings. Landing it in the top spot within just four days – very impressive.
An elated Katie, 33, took to Twitter to say: ‘Signing great good turnout didn’t quite make it thanks to all my fans who came!GREAT news my book has SHOT to number 1 in 4 days so AMAZING,’
Katie Price is no stranger to releasing books. With a new one out and 3 autobiographies and 5 novels already under her belt, she has got herself a very healthy literature portfolio. Despite admitting to not writing a single world of them herself, they have turned her over a healthy 4.2 Million alone.
The glamour girl openly confessed that she relies on her looks, not books and admirably has made no secret of the fact that she is not one to put pen to paper to create her top selling publications.
‘Unlike lots of other celebrities, I’ve never lied about the fact that I don’t physically write my books,’ she tells The Sun.
‘But I do sit down with the author, Rebecca Farnworth, and come up with all the plots.’
