Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson and George Michael are at war

We all love a bit of celebrity drama from time to time so this week we were thrilled to discover that the unlikely feuding pair, Jeremy Clarkson and George Michael, went head to head…

The heated argument started after presenter Jeremy Clarkson, 51, quipped a tasteless swipe at George on the show Top Gear.

He said: “This jaguar is very fast and loud. And in the corners it will get its tail out more readily than George Michael.”

When he caught wind of the below the belt comment, George Michael, 48, gave as good as he got.

The pop superstar believed that Jeremy had publicly picked on him because George had previously started a joke campaign to make the masculine, fast and furious Top Gear programme more camp, referring to it as Top Queer.

A sharp tongued George bit back at the presenter Tweeting: “Good grief, Mr Clarkson, i wasn’t implying your towering heterosexuality was in question. I had no desire to insult you! But i do now, you pig ugly homophobic!”

Predictably Jeremy’s rep denied that his comments were homophobic or in retaliation to Georges suggestion. “He didn’t see [the campaign]. If he had, he would have thought it was hilarious.”

As an outsider it can be difficult to truly interpret how the joke was meant. Was Jeremy merely taking reference to Georges shameful criminal history or was he offending mass members of the gay community..? We will never really know but it would not have exactly been the first time the Top Gear presenter has deeply offended someone…

The BBC car shows main presenters Richard Hammond and Jeremy Clarkson are often caught dishing out sexist and derogatory remarks towards women.

With Georges fiery response, perhaps this time Jeremy has bitten off more than he had chew with this opponent.
