Andrea McLean is best known for keeping a strong and calm composure sitting as host on the ITV1 hit show Loose Women, but looks and appearances can be very deceptive because beneath her on-screen togetherness, the former GMTV weather girl is hiding a secret agony.
The Scottish presenter is suffering extreme fear and anguish revolving around events that happened in her past after she unwittingly became the target of a twisted stalker.
Unfortunately for her, following an incident that occurred several weeks ago with an over-enthusiastic fan, Andrea is now having to deal with painful and disturbing memories of another stalker who bombarded her with a series of deranged sexual explicit letters and graphic photographs of himself when she was the popular GMTV weather girl.
When Andrea McLean, 41, and her husband Steve Toms were out a new bar in Surrey recently a man approached her and pleaded with her to have a drink with him, but following her gut instinct she politely declined his offer.
However, when her husband Steve returned from the bar with the same man beside him to let him have his picture taken with his wife, Andrea instantly became very alarmed:
“Andrea felt uneasy, but because she is a nice person, she agreed and leant in for the picture.
“But as they posed, the man began to push himself suggestively against her.
“Shocked, Andrea pushed him away and fled from the bar in tears.
“Steve was stunned and followed her outside, not realising what had occurred.
“When Andrea told him what had ahppened, Steve was furious and stormed back into the bar to tell the man to stay well away from his wife”, said a friend of the couple.
It was only then that Andrea McLean admitted to her husband that the scare had brought back the awful memories of her previous attacks from an unstable fan which the star endured for more than 18 months and despite openly declaring that Steve was her absolute soulmate, she kept her fears a secret stalker fears from him as not to cause any worry:
“There would always be people waiting outside the studio when she finished the show.
“Most of them were just innocent fans but one guy who looked at her a funny way, and she felt very unnerved and upset for a while.
“Steve was shocked, he just couldn’t understand why Andrea hadn’t said anything to him before now, but she genuinely didn’t want to worry him.
“Since the episode at the bar opening Andrea and Steve have  talked things through, and although the guy wasn’t a threat to her, he did go too far and it shook her up.
“She needed to admit she wasn’t as strong as she makes herself out to be, and now that Steve understands things much better he has promised he is there to look after her no matter what, vowing no no other creeps will ever get near her”, added the friend.
