M&S Help Restore Vitamin D Deficiency

Mark & Spencer has now introduced a range of supermarket goods which specifically aims to help tackle health problems caused by a lack of vitamin D.

The supermarkets line of fortified milk, yoghurt and fruit juices contians other nutrients such as Calcium and Omega 3, and there will be no need for the customer to worry how much extra these products will cost because they will be the same as any equivalent products in the store.

Vitamin D is the only vitamin produced by the body and is vital to our well-being, it can be found in fresh eggs, liver and oily fish, but is mainly formed by direct exposure to sunlight, and for the people of Britain, the lack of sunshine has become a problem in the rise of diseases including rickets in children and brittle bones in the elderly.

Other disturbing facts regarding low levels of vitamin D is the threat of heart disease, diabetes and cancer.

To help restore a happy balance of Vitamin D deficiency, Marks & Spencer’s Simply More range of food has become a huge success since it saw its launch in many select stores in spring.

Nutritionist for M&S Claire Hughes said:

“We want to make it as easy as possible for our customers to stay healthy and get their daily dose of vitamin D without having to worry about getting out in the sunshine.”

In the UK, half of the population is low in Vitamin D by the time that the Winter ends but for people living in Scotland the figure can be as high as two-thirds suffering with Vitamin D deficiency.
