Bumping into an ex is the last thing we want when out an about, but last week Frankie Sandford took avoiding her former boyfriend to the extreme.

The Saturdays star, 22, attempted to dodge her ex-flame McFly’s Dougie Poynter, 23, any way she could.

When she discovered both their bands were booked to play at Towneley Live Festival in Burnley, Lancs, the star thought up every elaborate scheme to get her out of an awkward meeting. In the end, she spent most of the weekend hiding out in a nearby football club – classy.

A source close to the nervous singer said: “Fortunately, McFly were first on the bill at 3 am, so the girls were able to stay out of the way until their slot later in the afternoon.”

Frankie and Dougie had a whirlwind romance that sparked up in 2008, but she called it quits last November.

The sudden split hit Dougie hard and he ended up checking himself into renowned celebrity rehab center The Priory, where he received treatment for mild depression.

At the time, he painfully admitted: “I was gutted about the break-up. It was totally unexpected.”

Whilst her other half was struggling to come to terms with the end of their relationship, Frankie had already moved on and was busy making out with footballer Wayne Bridge, 31, who was also at the gig last week.

Imagine if the new couple had collided with Dougie – awkward!
