ice age 4 Best known for her wacky style, super Bass rapping vocals and her big bottom, Nicky Minaj has now landed her self a role in the upcoming movie Ice Age 4 – Continental Drift.

Following in the footsteps of Disney’s Pixar Toy story and Dreamworks Shrek, 20th Fox is releasing the adored Ice Age clan on us for a fourth time.

As well as the usual old favorite characters – Ray Romano as Manny the wooly mammoth, John Leguizamo and Sid the hilarious sloth, Denis Leary as sabertooth tiger Diego, Queen Latifah as Ellie the comical mammoth who once thought she was a rodent and her two adopted mischievous brothers, opossums Eddie and Crash played by Seann William and Josh Peck.

Oh, and of course the star of the show Scrat, the sabertooth arctic squirrel who’s squeaks and squeals are the genius of Chris Wedge.

In the highly anticipated film, the family will be joined by several new characters and famous names…

Action thriller actor Jeremy Renner is booked to jump on the Ice age bandwagon and take on the role of new character Gutt, whom the studio describes him as “a self-styled master of the high seas who’s determined to make Manny, Sid and Diego part of his crew.” While American Idol Judge, Jennifer Lopez, is taking a brake from  listening to screeching teens auditioning for pop stardom as she has lent her voice to Shira, a sabre-toothed tigeress who falls for Leary’s surly Diego – meow!

However, there is one new Ice Age recruitment that has got her fans eagerly waiting in the wings to grab the first tickets, rapper Nicki Minaj.

Her character remains top secret, along with the indepth plot of the fourth addition.

Strangely, her character originally was not even meant to be in the blockbuster movie, until the star wowed the casting team with her caricature vocals.

Although she first was left feeling rather raw after being knocked back for a character she really wanted.

“They knew I liked animation, they knew I liked to do voices, and so they said they were doing that… I thought, ‘This is amazing’. The original role that I was up for I didn’t get, so I said, ‘Oh, okay, whatever.’ I was really mad,” the Young Money’s first lady recalled.

But then the budding actress got the call she had been dying to receive…

Nicki admits she was elated when the movie producers sent a surprise phone call revealing they could not let her slip through the net and had written a part especially for her.

“The next thing you know, they called me and they said, ‘We wrote in a part just for you ’cause we really want you to be a part of this movie.’”

She added: “I just was screaming and so excited, and I went in and I had a blast. I did it as two different voices. We’ll see what happens.”
