Paraglider Dies In Tragic Accident Yesterday At Newgale Beach In Pembrokeshire West Wales

Tributes have been pouring in for Welshman Steve John who died following a tragic accident when he was paragliding from a hill over Newgale Beach in Pembrokeshire West Wales, yesterday.

The 43-year-old from the small town of Milford Haven was airlifted to a nearby hospital after the incident at Newgale Beach believed to have happened after the sportsman flew into a rough patch of air.

News of his death has left the entire Pembrokeshire paragliding community in deep shock:

“The whole paragliding community is reeling with the shock of this awful tragedy. many of us were there on the hill that day. Steve was a fantastic guy, caring, warm family man, well loved and excelled at many outdoor sports.

“It wouldn’t be appropriate to comment on the specifics of what happened because that is subject to a full investigation both by the national paragliding organisation and the police. I feel none-the-less that it was just a tragic accident.

“Mr Jones was relatively new to the sport but being an expert diver it had helped him to learn extremely quickly.

“My thoughts go out to his family, Steve will be truly and deeply missed”, said Mr Bamber from the Pembrokeshire paragliding school.
