There’s no escaping from it Inbetweeners star Simon Bird is hot on- screen property but tonight his new TV comedy project Chickens part of the Comdey Showcase on Channel 4 does promise to be a little different.

Chickens features three twenty-something men who are all of fighting age in WW1 but find themselves socially exiled in their village having being made exempt from fighting on the Western Front for their country in the war.

You’ve got Simon Bird (Cecil) would love to be a war hero but can’t enlist due to his flat feet, Joe Thomas (George)  the conscientious objector and draft dodger Jonny Sweet (Bert) who just wants to prey upon single women.

Inbetweener star Simon Bird, 27, grew a jolly good moustache for the Chickens comedy project but claims: “We’re not making fun of this era which was a tragic one, we just love to write stuff which we’re a bit pathetic and like to be in a situation where we’re social outcasts surrounding ourselves by beautiful women.”

The talented trio co-wrote this new comedy sitcom and are really hoping that it will be a success so that they can return for a new full series.
