Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton Wows Wales By Learning To Speak Welsh Language

You’ve got to take your hat off to the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton not only for being one of the most refreshing and beautiful new commoners to join the established Windsor Royal family and one day become the nations Queen, but for showing respect to the locals where she and her husband Prince William have made their new home by learning to speak the Welsh language so she can engage in conversation with them when she ventures out and about.

Learning to speak Welsh in not for the squeamish and yet like everything Kate Middleton does she appears to do it in great style including when she sang note perfect and even managed to pronounce all the tricky pronunciation’s clearly to the Welsh National Anthem back in February on her first official with her hubby the Duke of Cambridge to launch a new RNLI Lifeboat on the stunning island of Anglesey North Wales.

Kate’s Royal aide said: “She is picking up the Welsh language and is doing well. Because they live in Wales she is surrounded by the language when she is out and about. It is not a case of a lesson a week, she hears Welsh around her and learns the language like that. Anglesey is her home and that is where she spends most of her time. If you immerse yourself in the culture you pick things up.”

The Welsh Language Board is also thrilled to learn that the English rose is learning to speak the ancient language.

In recent years there has been an increase in the amount of Welsh speakers not just in Wales but in parts of England, Argentina, Canada and the USA.
