A recent study has revealed that pregnant women taking painkillers including Ibuprofen are twice as likely to miscarry their unborn babies.
The scientists go further by claiming that countless pregnant women are unaware of the dangers of taking ibuprofen while they are expecting.
A major study revealed that women who took the painkiller just before they conceived until the 20th week of pregnancy were 2.4 times more at risk of miscarrying and despite clear written warnings on each packet of pills stating that the drug should not be taken during pregnancy as many as one in six expectant mums continue to take them.
The pills studied are known as Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs which include over-the-counter Ibuprofen and Naproxen and although Asprin is included in this group its findings were not recorded in the study.
The use of Paracetamol is however considered to be safe.
