Reese Witherspoon hit by 84-year-old driver

The last thing you expect is to collide with a moving vehicle whilst jogging up a sweat, but that is exactly what happed to Reese Witherspoon yesturday.

The Oscar winning actress was running off a few devil calories from the night before in Santa Monica, near Los Angeles, when she was hit by a car.

The episode, although no where near as dramatic as some of her movie roles, still left her in numb and in shock. The villainous motor in question was cursing the streets at 20mph when it claimed it’s first victim. The unharmed actress was promptly whisked off to nearby hospital for treatment.

Police Sergeant Richard Lewis reported: “The initial investigation revealed that the driver of the vehicle, an 84-year-old female resident of Santa Monica, was traveling southbound and struck a female pedestrian jogging westbound within an unmarked crosswalk.”

As there was no permanent damage done, the horrified driver was let off with a caution for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

The ‘Walk the Line’ star’s spokesperson, Nanci Ryder, told E! News she was not seriously hurt in the accident and is now “resting comfortably at home”.

Went it comes to injuries, Reese hasn’t had a great year…

Just a few months ago, the mum-of-two, who has two children, Ava, 12, and Deacon, 8, with her acting ex-husband Ryan Phillippe, was forced to wear a stylish soft cast on her left foot after she badly twisted her ankle.

Despite being confined to watching movies and pigging out on the couch with family and pets all day whilst her ankle healed, the actress was thankful the the injury had not conflicted with her March wedding to Hollywood agent Jim Toth.

During which the star donned a jaw dropping pair of skyscraper heels – which gives new meaning to the phrase ‘killer heels.’

They may have been beautiful but the Legally Blonde star was quick to swap them for a snazzy pair of cowboy boots at her reception – now that was far more sensible Reese!
