The phenomenal singing sensation overcame her chest infection to restart her UK shows by singing a beautiful moving tribute to Amy Winehouse on what would have been the tragic stars 28th birthday on Wednesday.
Adele dedicated her version of Bob Dylan’s To Make You Feel My Love to the late soul singer and told the crowd that they’d know the tribute song well after X Factor finalist Rebecca Ferguson covered the moving ballad on the last series.
“This is for Amy Winehouse whose birthday it is today”, Adele told the audience at the O2 Academy in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.
One member that was in the audience said: “I’ve never been to a gig where I’ve seen so many people wiping away their tears, including myself!”
The Someone Like You also told the fans that she was missing Cheryl Cole as a judge on the X Factor Show and that she herself is a big fan of the ‘Geordie’ singers music. Adele egged the crowd on by asking them if they’d heard her cover version of Promise This? But unfortunately couldn’t go on to perform her rendition of Cheryl Cole’s hit song because sadly for the fans her band had not rehearsed it.
