Police believe that taxi driver Paul McBride killed his six-month-old baby son in revenge against the mother after she ended their relationship.
Paul McBride, 39, murdered his baby son and then hanged himself.
The Preston taxi driver had recently moved back home to love with his parents after splitting to with his partner Michaela Swain after the couple had experienced several big bust ups.
But the concerned mother raised the alarm after McBride failed to return her baby boy Ollie to her from an access visit.
Relatives found the taxi driver hanging in his parents home in Preston Lancs.
Six-month-old baby Ollie was immediately rushed to hospital in a ‘very poorly condition’ but tragically died.
“The couple had a history of domestic issues. We’re trying to find out what bearing that had on this. Whether it is a revenge attack is too early to say. That would be speculation.
“We will be looking at all sorts of theories. The mother is obviously very distraught and is being comforted by trained specialist officers. It is vitally important that we are able to tell her exactly what has happened to her baby.
“It is being treated as a murder inquiry, although we are not looking for anybody else”, said Det Supt Neil Esseen.
Police are awaiting the results of a Post Mortem but stress that there we ‘no’ obvious signs of injuries on the little boy.
In a written tribute to Ollie his devastated mother wrote:
“No words I could ever write could express how much I love my beautiful baby boy Ollie.
“Goodnight sweetheart, sweet dreams. Mummy loves you.”
