REM Announce Split After 31 years Together

REM fans across the wide world were left shocked and hurting last night when the band of Shiny Happy People announced they’re splitting after 31 years together.

REM’s Michael Stipe, Peter Buck and Mike Mills broke the sad news by leaving an official message on their website:

“To our Fans and Friends: As REM, and as lifelong friends and co-conspirators, we have decided to call it a day as a band.

“We walk away with a great sense of gratitude, of finality, and of astonishment at all we have accomplished.

“To anyone who ever felt touched by our music, our deepest thanks for listening.”

“A wise man once said, ‘The skill in attending a party is knowing when it’s time to leave.’

“We built something extraordinary together and now we’re going to walk away from it.

“I hope our fans realise this wasn’t an easy decision but all things must end. We have to thank all the people who helped us be REM for these 31 years.”

The news that REM have split after entertaining us all with brilliant hits including, Losing My Religion, Everybody Hurts, It’s The End Of The World As We Know It, Man On The Moon, and Supernatural Superserious, is indeed a very sad day for the music world and the bands millions of fans old and new.
