Harbour The Coonhound Dog Enters Guinness World Record Book For Longest Canine Ears

Harbour looks simply adorable with his pair of gigantic ears.

But  now they’re not only recognised by everyone who knows him as part of his character, but have been officially entered into the Guinness World Record Books for being the longest canine ears on the planet.

The black and tan Coonhound springs from Boulder,Colorado, USA, and now at eight years-old is fully grown.

His ears outstanding ears have often got him noticed by people in the street all wanting to get his photo.

They were recently measured by the Guinness record books officials and were instantaneous record breakers.

Harbour’s left ear measured an incredible 12.25inches (31.1cm) while his right one measured slightly longer at 13.3inches (34.3cm).

It’s not unusual for Coonhound’s to have particularly long ears but strangely enough even though they’re ears, they are not used for hearing but primarily for smeliing.

Harbour’s record breaking ears are used to sweep close to the ground so that they can deliver up the odours and any other kind of tantalising smells right up into his eager nose.

Even though he’s now the proud owner of a new canine Guinness World Record it hasn’t always been plain sailing for the famous Coonhound who’s often been known to trip up once or twice out on his ‘walkies’ over his long floppy ears.
