It isn’t everyday that you win a £161 million fortune but that is exactly what happened to the Weir family when they scooped the mammoth jackpot EuroMillions winning prize.
Declaring themselves as the biggest ever lotto winners and going public to celebrate their massive good fortune with a bottle of bubbly might have seemed like a good idea to the Weir’s at the time, but now the instant multi-millionaires have been forced to leave behind their quiet tea-total life in their £180,000 home in the seaside town of Aryshire, near Scotland and go into hiding in Spain taking their two children with them.
Colin and Chris Weir stunned everyone when they came forward to reveal that it was them that had matched all of their lucky dip EuroMillions numbers to win the £161,653,000 million jackpot lottery draw.
But following Weir’s tears and smiles of joy came the hounding pleas from hundreds of people keen to get their hands on some of the lotto cash by begging the couple to share some of the fortune of their lucky lotto windfall with them.
The begging letters have been pouring through the Weir’s letterbox and hundreds more are piling up at their local soting office.
“The begging letters have already started coming in.
“I delivered a pile of them today.
“But there are many more piled up at the sorting office just addressed to ‘The Weirs’ and the manager is deciding whether to deliver them”, said the couple’s local postman.
Camelot have sent in their troops alongside of the police who are all on high alert in an attempt to protect the couple from the obvious unwanted attention that winning £161 million and then going public about the fortune can bring.
