Nelson Mandela has devoted the greatest years of his life to the political struggle of his beloved country South Africa against white minority rule.
The freedom fighter is deemed a national treasure and hero to his people and an inspiration to millions around the world.
He spent 27-years of his life in prison defending his causes and on his release in 1990 led to African National Congress party to an unprecedented victory which gave South Africa’s first black majority vote.
Today is no exception as he celebrates his 93rd birthday because despite becoming increasingly frail and receiving constant medical attention at his home, his message to each of his foundation members is clear.
He urges them to complete 67 minutes of voluntary work to represent the 67-years he has pledged from his life to the anti-apartheid campaign to inspire everyone to make the world a better place.
A special song composed for his 93rd birthday, Happy Birthday Tata Madiba, will be singing out loud and proud simultaneously from the voices of children present in school assembly halls across the South African nation hoping to reach 12.4 million to set a new world record.
Nelson Mandela retired from public duties in 2004 and did not appear again until the closing ceremony of the Football World Cup in 2010.
Known and loved by his clan name Madiba, one of the worlds’ true icon’s is celebrating his 93rd birthday in his home village of Qunu, Eastern Cape surrounded by his family.
Happy 93rd Birthday Nelson Mandela.
