Noel Gallagher of Oasis plea to increase X Factor age limit

The former Oasis rock star Noel Gallagher appeals to X actor that they should raise the age limit to 18 years old instead of 16. Sixteen is way too young to handle rejection or fame, he muses. Gallagher was offered a spot in the singing show’s judge panel but turned down the offer. He continues to be an avid follower of the show.

Over the past weeks, the show televised a handful of young singers with broken heart and shedding tears because they did not make the cut and their stardom journey was short lived. There have been some critics eyeing such scenes t saying that these hopefuls are too young to go through such rejection, and on global television at that. One boss at a children’s charity also voiced out his concern and even Garly Barlow said that 16 is just an inappropriate age for such a scene. A team of academics who are studying and researching the hit show also alleged X Factor of using the cruelty of rejection to hoard viewership and appeal to the viewers.

Gallagher went public with his concern when he was invited as a guest at Absolute Radio’s morning show. “When you see the kids crying on there that’s quite difficult. When they say things like… Oh, you’re great but you’re too young – well, don’t put her through in the first place then, do you know what I mean?”, he bravely commented.
