Nokia had released Today its first windows 7 based smartphone called Lumia 800. The device runs the latest Windows 7.5 mobile OS making it the first “real” windows 7.5 mobile smartphone on the market.
It’s no secret that ever since the iPhone, Android phones and Blackberry devices had come on the market Nokia had suffered a major hit to its sales.
Once a market leader in the cellular world, Nokia’s market position had decreased and became tiny over the years as more and more smartphones came out to the market. The company’s outdated Symbian based smartphones simply didn’t present a challenge to the amazing iOS, Android and Blackberry based devices.
About 8 months ago Nokia decided to make a change in attitude and declared that they will work to develop the world first real windows 7 smartphone. They met their promise and starting Today people in France, Germany, Italy, UK, Spain and the Netherlands in November can already place orders for the Nokia Lumia 800.
The new Lumia specs are (as stated by Nokia on their formal website):
3.7″ Amoled display
8 megapixels Primary camera
142 grams in Weight
Maximum 3G talk time – 9.5 hours
Maximum 3G standby time – 335 hours
Maximum music playback time – 55 hours
Maximum video playback time – 7 hours
The Lumia comes in three colors: Blue, Black and Purple.

The Nokia Lumia 800 runs a 1.4 Ghz processor and has 16gb of ram on board.
Current prices are around 420 Euro which does position the smartphone at a very competitive price compared to other popular smartphones.
Is this the first sign for a Windows 7.5 comeback into the market? Only time will tell.
