Chantelle Houghton warns Women The Dangers of Crash Dieting After being Told By Doctors That She Is Infertile

Chantelle Houghton earned her own claim to the world of fame when she appeared as the first non-celebrity star on the hit TV reality show Celebrity Big Brother in 2006 and went on to win the show against all the odds.

But the stunning 27-year-old’s pressure of maintaining the figure that she had always craved for her celebrity lifestyle didn’t come without a price.

Now the reality star has to deal with the harsh facts that after years of crash dieting and punishing her body in a battle to stay slim, she is left infertile and will never be able to conceive a child naturally.

“I’ve punished my body, and now it’s punishing me.

“Ultimately it’s my fault.

“I hate myself and can never forgive myself.

“Because of my obsession with food and my crash dieting when I had bulimia, I have ruined my chances of having a baby nautrally.

“All the time I was making myself sick, was thinking:

“Yes, I’m getting skinnier.”

“I thought I was winning, but I was losing.

“It’s cost me the chance of a family.”

Chantelle Houghton’s battle with the eating disorder Bulimia began when she was 14-years-old, and after the painful split from her musician husband Preston in 2007 her weight dropped to eight stone.

It was then that the heart-broken star spoke openly about her eating disorders and constant battle with her weight for her 5ft 7″ frame.

“I have tried every diet that there is.

“From body wraps and the Special K diet to just drinking water.

“I know I have to eat healthily and go to the gym because that is the only thing that works.

“I was making myself sick a lot, so food was just coming straight back out of me.

“I was obsesses from the minute I woke up until the minute I went to bed.

“I was constantly watching what I was eating”, said Chantelle.

But it wasn’t until recently that she went to see a fertility expert after suffering from stomach pains and was told by Doctor Amin Gorgy:

“I would never be able to conceive naturally.

“Dr Gorgy told me that I had low fertility and that if I wanted to have a baby I would have to have IVF.

“He said that if I’d have waited another three years, I would never be able to have children at all.

“I wouldn’t have any eggs left”, added the star whose warning to other women who are punishing their bodies crash dieting is:

“I hope they will see what has happened to me and realise what they are doing to themselves.

“I am only 27 and I cannot have children naturally.

“Is being stick-thin really worth that?”
