People always want to improve themselves in terms of beauty.
Now, another surgeon announced that he found a way to turn brown eyes into blue.
The doctor’s name is Dr. Gregg Homer of Stroma Medical. He is from Laguna Beach, California.
He said, after 10 years of research, he discovered that brown pigment can be removed from the surface of the iris with a laser leaving the rarer blue pigment underneath.
According to him, the body will expel altered tissue and changing brown eyes to blue one in about two to three weeks.
He also said to not worry about tissue damage because on his research, there were no tissue damage found.
But in the natural part of it, there could be negative side effects but is still undetected.
He still have one last year to finish his research but the procedure will be available in USA within three years and outside US in 18Â months.
The time of the surgery will be for only 20 seconds and will cost around $5,000.
Dr. Homer also said he is receiving thousands of emails from people who wants the surgery.
There are so many questions regarding this procedure that Yahoo!Shine contacted Dr. Conswalla Shavers, a surgeon from Park Avenue, New York City.
They want to get a medical insight about this procedure.
She laughed about the information of the procedure and said it can provide unnecessary danger to the eyes.
She said, “I’d imagine that the risks could outweigh the benefits in a patient. It could release too much pigment into the anterior chamber that can clog up the draining system in the eye. This makes the pressure go up and cause glaucoma. “
She added that it is not worth it to change your eye color. She said, “What’s to ensure there’s definitely pigment underneath? You could remove brown pigmentation and there’s even more brown pigmentation underneath. Blue eyes are a recessive trait, but even if your parents are carriers there’s no way of getting what shade, if any, lies at the bottom of the iris.”
She also said about why people is interested on this new procedure. She said, “When it comes to vanity there’s nothing you would not put past the human condition.”

She then suggests wearing contact lenses saying, “Contact colored contact lenses would be far less risky. You won’t have any potential side effects and it will guarantee the color.”
