NHS Employed Nurse Rebecca (Becki) Leighton: Is This The Face of the Stepping Hill Hospital Killer?

It has been confirmed that hospital worker Rebecca Leighton is the NHS employed nurse at Stepping Hill Hospital arrested by police in a dawn raid yesterday morning on suspicion of murder following the deaths of three patients on the ward she worked on.

Photo’s of the 27-year-old, fun-loving, party nurse have begun emerging and as you look into her eyes you can’t help but ask yourself, is this the face of the Stepping Hill Hospital Killer?

Known as ‘Becki’ to her friends, the young nurse is accused of contaminating patients saline drips with insulin which she deliberately injected into 36 vials of saline solution with the intent to kill or seriously harm a patient.

A team of forensic experts spent the day yesterday searching the NHS employed nurse’s flat above a darts shop in Papworth and left taking six black bags, a computer and a hard drive with them.

Chief executive of Stockport NHS Trust said last night:

“As the police are continuing with their inquiries we are unable to provide any further details.

“But it is important to stress that no charge has been made at this time.”

Despite the arrest of Rebecca Leighton tightened security at Stepping Hill Hospital remains firmly in place.

Rebecca Leighton remains in police custody on suspicion of the insulin related deaths in the hospital where she worked but Greater Manchester Police made it very clear in a previous statement that proving a link between the patients deaths by suspected insulin poisoning is likely to be a slow and extremely complex process.
