Newlywed Vanessa Minnillo dropped her last name and will be taking her husband, Nick Lachey’s surname.

The former Miss Teen USA announced her decision on her twitter acount.

She posted on twitter, “So..I’m making it official, and I LOVE my new name!”

The proud wife added, “@VanessaLachey has a nice ring to it. ”

The couple got married last July 15 this year in Sir Richard Branson’s Private Necker Island.

Vanessa told People on her wedding gown, “I wanted to be in that traditional wedding gown with heels and I wanted my groom in a tux and shoes not barefoot on the beach.”

She wore a Monique Lhuillier gown and diamond stud earrings that Lachey gave her during their first year as a couple.

They boarded in a private yacht in St. Barths for their honeymoon.

The newlyweds bought a home together in Encino, California. It is located on San Fernando Valley, it is a spanish style, 8000-square feet that has 8 bathrooms, 18 bedrooms, balconies and a swimming pool.

Her latest gig was a host in ABC’s “Countdown to the American Music Awards” with Christopher Harrison.

Last Sunday, November 20, she tweeted, relating to the AMA’s, “I’m getting fired up about the #AMA’s today! But I gotta say, with this rain in LA!!! Let’s hope no one melts on the red carpet.”

She arrived in the red carpet wearing a white minidress and matching heels. When she arrived on Nokia Theater in LA she took a twitter post of her shoes and posted, “Let’s hope this babies make it through the rain!! Ahhh! Jimmy Choo! I Love You!!!”
