Why did NFL star Chris Draft’s wife Lakeasha die?

NFL player Chris Draft’s wife died just last Tuesday because of Lung Cancer.

Lakeasha Monique Rutledge Draft is a former cheerleader for Charlotte Hornets.

She was not a smoker.

According to Examiner.com, the couple met in Charlotte where Chris was reassigned to Carolina Panthers.

The lovers were very active on their charitable foundations but kept a low profile when she was diagnosed with lung cancer last year.

Lakeasha recently worked as a pharmaceuticals rep in Atlanta before she was diagnosed.

They got married last month even if she was terminally ill, and she even walked in a wheelchair when she walked down the aisle.

Chris Draft wrote on his foundation’s website regarding his wife:

“She courageously faced lung cancer, showing us all with every breath that we all need to hold onto life and love with both hands for as long as we can.”

“Not just an inspiration but a light, and a force that led a way with a beautiful but sweet smile and bright shining eyes that both belied the pure steel of strength and determination.”

“Strong is too pale, too shallow and too small of a word to describe Keasha’s vibrancy, Quite simply, she was ferocious. She fiercely held onto life, and love with forcefulness that was absolutely awe-inspiring and completely breathtaking. Rest in Peace Mrs. Draft.”
