DeMarcus cousins was asked to stay home by his Coach, Paul Westphal rather than play against New Orleans Hornets.
Coach Westphal released a statement this afternoon and revealed that they will not let DeMarcus Cousins play because of his demands to be traded.
“DeMarcus Cousins has demanded to be traded. In the best interest of our teams as we go forward, he has been directed by me, with the support of management to stay home from New Orleans game tonight.”
“Whenever a new season begins, in any sport, there is great hope that everything in only, a steady upward direction. As we all know, it seldom happens like that in this life!”
“As coaches, we can only ask that our players do everything they can to improve themselves as individuals and teammates. If they do this with all their hearts, we live with the results.”
“Everything that happens on a team that does not become known to the public. This is how it should be.However, when a player continually, aggressively, let it be known he is unwilling/unable to embrace traveling in the same direction as his team, it cannot be ignored indefinitely”
Westphal added a statement and said, “I hope that DeMarcus has a change of heart and joins up with full reinstatement. That’s really all up to him. This will really give him the best chance to do that. It’s something I think that the team can use to band togeher which is the most important thing for a new team.”
However, DeMarcu’s agent, John Greig told S.com that he never demanded a trade.
He said, “I’m surprised the Kings, if they believe the player wanted a trade, would not have made a phone call to his representative?Maybe Westphal is just feeling the heat early this season.”
This season, DeMarcus averaged 13 points and 11.3 rebounds. He was the fifth overall pick in last year’s NBA draft because his team has concerns with his ethics and attitude.
