Singer Aretha Franklin announced that she is engaged with her longtime friend, William ‘Wilkie’ Wilkerson.

The 69-year-old Grammy winner has been married two times.

They plan to get married in the Summer of 2012.

Aretha told PEOPLE, “We are looking for June or July for our date. ”

She also jokingly said that she is not pregnant!

The couple might be eyeing Miami Beach, Florida and a private yacht for their reception.

Their representative told PEOPLE on Aretha’s plan for her wedding dress.

“Ms. Franklin is considering Donna Karan, Valentino, and the Queen of wedding dresses, Vera Wang, to design her gown.”

Aretha’s first marriage was with Ted White who was later on became her manager.

They got divorced in 1969.

Her second marriage was with actor Glynn Turman for 6 years but also called it quits.

 

Meanwhile, Bridesmaid’s actor Chris O’ Dowd also to tie the knot with British TV personality, Dawn Porter.

He announced on his Twitter account last Thursday, December 29.

He posted, “I’m so bored with all this happiness and sex. I’m getting married. #engaged”

Dawn Porter answered back on Twitter, “I guess he liked it because he put a ring on it#engaged”

PEOPLE magazine reported that Chris proposed on December 26 while they were vacationing in the English Channel, Guernsey.

When he posted it on his Twitter which he has 85,000 followers, his fans got excited and were happy for the actor.

He then later on posted, “Aw, thanks for the congrats guys. Feelin’ the twitter love today. Very happy & lucky boy. All your congratulation tweets are getting me VERY excited. Thanks guys, so glad you can make it to the wedding.”
