It looks as though budding actress Lily Collins could be crowned ‘the fairest of them all’ – that is if you take the much anticipated film the Brothers Grimm: Snow White at face value.
However, if 80′s pop icon Phil Collins daughter is to snap up the prestigious title, it will ‘be against all odds’ as she will be starring alongside Hollywood beauty Julia Roberts in the fantasy adventure.
The magical blockbuster is sign-posted to be a dark twist to the classic fairytale ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’. Except instead of cleaning all day for seven miniature men and longing after a romantic prince, Snow White is set to battle dark forces to reclaim her destroyed kingdom.
Julia Roberts plays the infamous Evil Queen and the audience are set to brace epic tension on screen as the the ‘Pretty women’ star fights to eliminate her pure-hearted nemesis for good.
Lilly, who is following her fathers footsteps into the the limelight and stardom is ecstatic she has been casted as one of the top fairytale princess of all time.
The blossoming actress said: ‘I keep saying to everyone I feel like I’m walking into a snow globe, a fairy tale, every single day.’
If you are a lover of classic fairytales and fear that the darker edge will ruin a classic story, don’t be.
‘She’s very much that fairy tale princess we’ve all read about in books.
‘She’s been modernized in a way that she becomes a fighter in the end.’
Staying true to fairy tales, there is a love twist, except this time it is the prince being chased, not the princess.
In this story the prince is being pursued by ‘both’ riving women but for very different reasons.
Lily said: ‘They’re competing for the prince in separate ways.
‘The Queen wants to use him to better herself. I’m seeking his help to gain back my kingdom from the Queen.
‘She has her intentions from the start. I go from seeking his help to falling in love, though obviously there’s something of a spark from the beginning.’
Julia Roberts, usually very sweet and scatty in her films is not the first actress you would think to cast as an evil queen, but Lily confirms otherwise.
The young actress says that her co-star is perfect for the intimidating, conniving role as she plays the evil queen as having a sweet exterior but a rotten core. Sticking to tradition, Julia’s character tries to kill Snow White with a deadly poisonous apple.
‘You can’t figure out if you are supposed to like her or hate her. But if you happen to be the victim of it, you really feel it.’
Unfortunately there is a bit of a wait to see the Brothers Grimm: Snow White version – directed by The Fall’s Tarsem Sing- as it is not released until March.
Despite the film being believed to be a smash hit that will catapult Lily Collins into instant world wide fame, it is yet to be seen whether it will scoop the title for next years best fairytale film.
The Brother Grimm version will be competing with Kristen Stewart’s more traditional tale of ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’.
Twilight star Kristen is said to be the leading lady casted as Snow White, acting along side Lord of the Rings Chris Hemsworth as the huntsman and academy award winning actress Charlize Theron as the evil queen.
This film takes a different view and focuses on the journey Snow White and the huntsman take.
The twist is when the huntsman, ordered but the evil queen to take her step daughter in to the words to be killed, ends up becoming her protector and the pair battle to vanquish their evil leader.
